I dont really care for the mutations as it's too monster of the week, they have ridiculous designs, and it's silly with Mikey naming them and just there to sell toys. I find the season long struggle with the Shredder more interesting than the Turtles dealing with the Krang and trying to find April's dad while the Shredder is looking for them. They really hired the right person for the job this time around.Ĭlick to expand. If by edgier, you mean matching pivotal parts of the comic and being fucking rad as hell for a kids cartoon, then sure. My fandom comes from The 80s cartoon and the first 1990 TMNT film growing up, and yet still I think the Nick show has won me over in more ways than it has a right to given my age. It will ultimately be remembered as the best version of the turtles from the existing adaptations since Mirage, I'm pretty confident of it (unless Bayturtles defies all logic and greatly exceeds expectations through some unprecedented wizardry)īut heck I'm just happy to see people talking TMNT period.
